Driveshaft question

On the u joint on the drive shaft is a little clip that bridges across the u joint and goes under the end of the c clips .....mine broke...is it really needed or can I install the shaft without the clip in place. TIA

As I recall, the thin metal piece is there just to keep the caps secured when the driveshaft is not installed, so I think you should be ok without it.

Thanks Rob, thats what I was thinking ...just wanted a second opinion. I put my olf steel shaft in after the 383 went in because I wasnt sure , but that damn thing vibrates like a **** at 90 mph and it has to go.
