Long tubes or shorties? If i remember correctly, i only had to undone the steering linkage and i removed my oil pressure sensor (well, broke it off) when i installed my Hooker lt's. I know for a fact i didnt have to jack up the driver side during the install. If they are long tubes, you may just need to get the car a little higher off the ground so you can angle the header up and in better.

I put a little dent in the firewall and mine slid right in. Before I did that I was in the same situation you are in.

Good luck.

twice as hard!!! half the room, there is some wires you need to cut and splice in extentions and reroute away from the header. or they will burn!
have fun, and buy a pack of smokes to calm ya down if you get frustrated.

Passenger side is EASIER. Put the header in as far as it will go from the top, then jack the engine up an inch or so, then slide the header down some more, then keep repeating the process until the header is in.

All the advice that I can give you is keeping trying it from the top and the bottom. Try all kinds of different angles. For the drivers side I completely removed the engine mount from the frame and the engine. Jacked up the motor to the cowl. Removed the steering knuckle. Removed the oil filter. After all of that I had to use a bit of force to get the flange to go through but it did in the end. OBD1 cars are hard to get the drivers side in, OBD2 cars passenger side is hard to get in. Keep trying it will eventually go in. LOL nobody ever said a longtube header install was gonna be easy

Jack it up higher if needed and rotate the headers downward more and jam it up into place. Thats how I got mine installed quickly I didnt care if they got scratched and it saved a ton of headaches just to use a little more force.

it sounds like you are putting them in from the top, mine went in way easier from the bottom, just get the car as high as you can and if necessary undo the motor mounts and give the motor a little nudge upwards. transamdriver is right, get the car high and angle those suckers in almost perpendicular to the ground- especially for the passenger side header -PITA but doable.

If you need a little more clearance down low, you can remove the bolts that hold the k-member on the driver's side and loosen the ones on the passenger side slightly to let the k-member sag a little. I've heard of others having to do that to get the header in there.

They say that if the driver's side is hard, the passenger side will be easier.

In my case, I was lucky and both sides were easy.

i had the EXACT same problem with my jet hots,,from the top it kept hitting the rocker arm, and from the bottom it was hitting my frame,,i sent it back and got ANOTHER brand new header, and it was actually shaped a little different, but had the same problem. i ended up having to cut the slip tube about 1/4 inch,,,and it wen't right in. if u end up doing that, make sure u don't cut off too much , or else it won't line up.
good luck, i know where ur coming from , they are a bitch,...doing this was my last resort after 2 days, i wish i knew alot sooner!

with my LT's I pulled the starter, oil filter, and oil press. sender which is down below on the 93's. I jacked the front of the car really high, had someone helping under the car while i pulled them both through the bottom. Was easy and only took about 5-10min. per header. I think i got lucky though!
