Driver Side Power Window Switch

Well the 2 switches on the driverside door for hte windows seemed to of both gone out. The one that controls the passenger side has been out for awhile so i have been reaching over to put the window down by using hte switch on the passenger side which wasn't so bad but now the one that controls the driver's window has gone out. I checked the dealer around here and they called for 17.xx plus tax and then 40 for the labor. I pretty much am set on installing it myself...shouldnt be that hard but then again I've never done it. Are there any write ups?

I then put part number that i got off of shoebox's website into the GM parts direct site and the switches showed up as 7.19 yet shipping was 7.95

Is there any other reasonable way that i can go about getting the switches for hte driver side door?

Thanks,
Andrew

$40 for labor for 2 minutes worth of work?!?!

For that alone, I wouldn't buy the switches from them either and instead just get them from one of the guys (Jason or Dal) on shoebox's site.

These switch covers just pull out, unplug the switch, finagle it for about 10 seconds and the switch is in your hand. Installing it takes about 5 seconds. So, my 2 minutes was being generous. $40 for that??? Dang... I'm in the wrong business!!!

On the driver's side, both switches come as 1 block. I just bought it for 14.65 from a local dealer. The cover plate can be pried off real easy, unplug old switch block, pry off with something like a knife, pop in the new block and plug in the connector. From beginning to end is roughly 1.5 minutes.
Imagine the hourly rate this dealer is charging, if I'm not mistaken $1600/hour

wow...yea i went to another dealer about 10 minutes the opposite direction and found it for $13.49...so i saved myself like 7 dollars...and yea the install....whata pain in the A$$ haha would've def been worth the $40....for the 30 seconds that it took me to install it..haha whata joke...after that encounter...i don't think i'll ever get anything installed by a dealer....EVER

Replacing this was easier than hitting eject, searching for a CD, and then slipping the new CD into the head unit....and just think....someone out there.....probably even on this board has paid the $40....sad

just be glad that you never took your car there to get fixed in the first place . i've never trusted dealers and do 95% of the work on my car. i'm really lucky as far as getting complicated stuff done. i have a few friends who are ase certified, one of which worked for the state and has already worked on a ton of lt1's . the ta may be going there this weeked because of my passenger window. it works sometimes flawlessy but then it will completely stop working on any switch position except for down on the passenger switch. i'm sure it's the wiring somewhere but i'm just really not in the mood to mess with it.
