Drag strip time

Hey guys, got my car out to the drag strip today and ran a surprising 13.7 on my set up and normal street tires and with whats in my signature. Is that time typical or is that pretty good?

Re: Drag strip time

That would be called pretty good.
Of course, today's weather is an important factor, but very nice time either way!

Re: Drag strip time

Yes, that would be a good choice if you need to pass emissions. (and being in Schaumburg, you probably do)
3.73 gears and a 2800 Vigilante stall would also be great choices after headers.

Re: Drag strip time

Ion is probably to modest to say it but his programming would be a good next mod, even if you do it before the gears and stall. I like Edge for the converter but have to agree that 2800 is a good number still good drivability.

Re: Drag strip time

Yea, i heard good things about getting the car re-programed, but will the gas mileage go down? Also, do they make emissions compatible hooker long tubes, or should i just stick with getting the macs

Re: Drag strip time

my friends 95 z ran a 13.8 bone stock yesterday @ Byron IL. nothing done to it. (auto trans)
so i can see 13.7 with your mods are about right.
keep up the good work

Re: Drag strip time

were you at Byron as well?? WE were out there with the white '95 Formula and Blk '00 T/A.... The white one had traction issues all day but still got a new best with a 12.15 on spray...too bad it took the motor...Think we spun a bearing as by the time we got back to Elgin it was sounding like a major gremlin under the hood. The T/A went 13.09 with a lid, cutout, and a Nitto. Only weight mod was the rear seat removed. This car is so stock it doesn't even have any free mods done to it!!!

If you got your car for gas mileage, get rid of it. Jet Hot is a replica of the Hooker LTs with emissions fittings. Doesn't mean they'll be emissions legal though.

Good to see some guys running at Byron. One of my fave tracks.

Re: Drag strip time

we went to byron 7 times this year...All came after the middle of September. We went back to back a few weekends....first year the '95 was actually able...it kept breaking. Now it's done..if I could host, and figure out how to get it on the internet, I would just so you guys could here how the motor sounded after driving from Byron to Elgin (Randall Road)....It would make you cringe.

Re: Drag strip time

Tuning will not affect your gas mileage. In fact it should get better since it will not be running so rich at wide open throttle, but yes, it is a good mod to do and I guarantee a .15-.2 off your ET at the track and 1-2 MPH gain. Plus, you're local too.

crash4cyl,
you can email me any files you want hosted at tuner@madz28.com and I'll host them for you.
