Drag Radials!!! WOW.

Ok so the car has had street tires on it the whole time i have had it.... And with every mod, my traction had been getting worse and worse as more power was added... So i finally gave in and bought 2 275/40/17 Nitto 555R Drag Radials and all i have to say is WOW. They HOOK, i can hardly peel out in 1st now, and as soon as i start to peel out, they all of the sudden hook... All i have to say is bye bye to those 2.1 - 2.3 60 foots! Just felt like sharing with you guys! One of the best mods i have done so far. Im just not gonna launch to hard at the track ( stock 10bolt and 4.10's), ill just bog it off the line and then hit it, either way i figure i will still be getting better traction then before.

I've always said that you can have thousands of dollars invested in suspension mods, but it will be all for naught if you don't have the tire to back it up.

Haha, i grew up with a friend of mine that JUST became a manager at a Discount tire so..... 200 dollars for both tires and CERTS... It pays to know people.

And yes, the relocation brackets, LCA's, and Torque arm are going in soon too, heck i am going from NO traction to ALOT of traction really quickly here!!! LOL

I just put some on my 99 ta.They helped some at 28psi on the street..but should help a lot more at the track at say 20psi and good burnouts.I doubt you will get much better than 2.0 with them on a stick car..auto maybe with a good stall. They are still a very nice tire.

You would be suprised. I pulled a 2.19 60' w/ just the 555 (not the drag radial). I can see easy 1.9 at least with the 555r on a M6. Just my opinion though. I'll find out soon enough.

I went from 2.5 to 2.0 60's with my BFG DR's. I'm not spinning at all, now I just need a stall to get off the line harder.

Personally, they've sucked for me. My BEST short time with them was a 1.96, while I was consistently pulling a 1.92/1.93 with a set of SZ50's prior to the Nitto's. Now that there's a street twin, forget it.

I ran my Nitto DRs at the track with 17psi in the tires and normally had 1.8s for 60 foot times. I have had 1.80 several times. My car is a 6 speed too. So you can get really decent 60 foot times with an M6 and DRs but alot of it depends on a decent burnout and good track prep. Heat the tires up and they will hook good at the track.

Re: Drag Radials!!! WOW.

I constantly get 1.9 1.8 60 foot times with Nitto DR with only Relocation brackets and H&R lowering springs(~1 inch, who said lowered cars cant hook!). I use a SLP line lock to make really nice burnouts. Tire press at 18psi and launching at 3400 rpms
So you should be hooking at about the same with practice.
With the LCA, TA, and 4:10 Ill be starting to look for a 12 bolt.
