Downshift.......no increase in rpms?

Alright i finished my trans go install everything was great for like a week......now when i downshift the car seems to go into neutral.....rpms don't jump up like they should. when you push the gas like in 2nd at 40 it revs to like 3 grand then finally accelerates......like it's in neutral till it gets to the matched rpm. Any ideas?

This sucks Trans is acting up, my 2.73 posi is going, my opti is on it's way out, i have something draining my battery....... I'm pulling my hair out!!!!!!

O yea and it shifts hard like it should at part throttle, but at WOT it shifts really light and crappy. Anyone knows what controls WOT shifts?

same thing happened to me man downshifted, rpm's drop, did it again same thing, ended up rebuilding my trans because it began slipping like urs is now. good luck with all that and pull out ur fat wallet cause its gonna cost ya. Make sure u get it done at a reputable shop in ur area cause if these trans arent done will then youll be screwed. downshifting and auto i learned from that experience is not a good idea.

Good Luck

Sounds like you are losing the overrun clutches in the tranny. A rebuild could be in your near future. (that is, if you did not hose up something with the shift kit install)

O well i'll just pull it all apart again and see if one of those connectors is lose..........How can it be perfect one day and not the next? By the way i had maybe downshifted 5 times........and i doubt that would make the trans go out.

I know there is a fix and i will find it or run it like it is

Is your trans a "non-e" model with a Throttle Valve (TV) cable? If yes, check the TV adjustment.

Overrun clutch. Same thing happened in my 4L60E before I did the M6 swap.

Yea it's a 4L60E

Can anyone explain the whole overrun clutches? When are the engaged? What do they do? Does it have to be totally re-build or could you just replace those--or is it not worth it to just do those? I'm guessing it's not worth it.

Did you put a trans cooler in, when you did the shift kit?
If not, that could be your problem..
just some thoughts....

If it never did it before, you might have misplaced one of the checkballs when you installed your kit.

I'm thinking it has to be something wasn't put in quite right or that conneter on one of the selinoids slid off (broke the clip that holds it on--I was told it would stay on by a trans guy on this board--but maybe it sliped off) I wonder what that selinod does???? it's the one with the blue clip on the connector. Then there is that spring thing you put between the screens........it doesn't say anything about holding it in......wonder if that moved and is stuck in one of the other springs and has it jammed up. It's just weird how it just went out. Car shifts perfect in every gear, except WOT........I really would like to know what that selinod does-before i tear it apart to see. It's such a pain......good thing i have the B&M pan with the drain plug
