Double roller timing chain install

when installing a double roller timing chain you have to remove the water pump drive gear right? If so how do you get it off.

Thanks

Take off the old timing chain.

Undo the retainer plate holding the gear in place, and pull it out. If the intake man is off you can knock it out from the back. It may need some persuasion (sp?) ie vice grips.

OK thanks. One of the online install guides I found said to use some GM tool, so I just wanted to make sure before I pounded it out.

I just used the claw end of a hammer and stuck it behind the gear and it popped right out.
