Dont really know where to put this....

OK im new here and just need a few questions answered. I dont own an F body or corvette since im only 18 and cant afford the insurance. I have always wanted a truck fast as hell so i opted to buy a 99 s-10 ZQ8 with the crappy 4 cyl. Everyone downs me for buying a base model ZQ8 but eh who cares. i bought it for a reason. I wasnt keeping the engine long so why buy the more expensive engine. Anyways in about a month or 2 i will be swapping in a LT1 into my s-10. I have a couple of questions for you guys that maybe you can answer.

I need a LT1 from a vette so i can avoid notching my frame for the AC compressor. I have trouble finding these for reasonable prices. Do you have any idea where i can find one?

I will have Sanderson headers with 1 5/8" primaries. What type of exhaust would be best for me? I want as much performance as i can have with not alot of noise.

Also my brother has a VW that i need to keep up with. It is pretty fast and well lets just say i need to be in the DEEP 13s to keep up with him. Anyway with the LT1 i can get into the high 12's cheap?

If you guys can please answer those questions for me it would be greatly appreciated! mods if this is in the wrong forum im sorry.

As far as exhaust on the S10 you are more than likely going to have to fabricate something yourself. Good luck with an exhaust shop, they are terrified to do any work where cats are involved. As for a suggestion, you may try some Impala LT1 headers (for space), and run a dual-cat setup with dual Dynomax bullet mufflers and tailpipes out of the back or each side behind the tires (sides look better IMO).
As far as dipping into the 12's, I hope that you have some way to hook up the rear end 'cause all you'll do is boil the tires. Definitely run slicks or DR's when racing, or it won't be worth it. Since you're going to swap in an LT1, do a basic rebuild, do the entire LT4 package (cam and all), and fabricate a nice CAI along with some programming (TunerCat or LT1_edit). Oh yeah, I don't know what rear end is in it, but you may want to swap that out or beef it up as well as the tranny.
That setup should get you into the high-mid 13's, traction will be your biggest problem by far. Rain? HA!!

if you want a quiet exhaust with lots of power jsut put on whatever muffler will make it quiet then get a cutout and put an electric cutout plate on it....so closed you have quiet and open it and get your power back.
