Doing 1.7 RR's. What parts do I need
Hello all. I did a search on 1.7's a while ago and I cant find the post now that tells me what I need to convert.
I will be keeping my stock springs, retainers and stuff. I plan to just up the Rockers, studs, pushrods(if I must) and guideplates.
Let me know what I forgot. and also if you could let me know what the part numbers are and who makes them..
Thanks,
Tim

no way thats going to work with stock springs. they will coil bind and break if your pushrods dont bend first. either way you have broken parts and engine damage. and even in the case where the springs didnt bind which is impossible. the increased velocity and acceleration of the valve would be greater than the stock spring can handle pressure wise. spend the money to do it right or DONT DO IT. if you dont know what parts to get there are any number of professionals on this board who can help you select parts to do what you want to do.

Change the springs for peace of mind. Its not hard. You just need a spring compressor and i used a magnet to hold the valve while i changed the spring. Also, if im right, the valve will NOT drop all the way into the cylinder because of the size of the stroke if thats what your worried about.

I would replace the spring. they are cheap enough($33) and the stock springs are crap. http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/3533...Spring-Kit.htm
