Doh! Need some advice.

Picture

Think I can superglue the tip back on as a temp fix (of course being cautious not to superglue it to the actual injector, just to the other half of the cover)??? I'm actually left wondering if that cover is nothing more than there to protect the actual end of the injector?? In which case I could run it as-is or remove the other half and run without the cover??

Better yet, are the end covers available anywhere, if anyone knows???

Another thought: Anyone know if I can pop the end off of one of my 30# injector and use it?? I'm just running these 24# ones as a test (with a proper tune) to see if my 30# injectors are having issues.

I would send an email to racetronix or a good injector company and ask the same question. Im sure you will get an accurate answer this way. Plus racetronix is a very email friendly company.

The cap on those injectors directly affects the spray pattern. It is very important to have it replaced with the right type. While you are at it have the injectors cleaned and the screens replaced.

That's going to be a BIG problem then because I'm on a very tight schedule right now with this car. Does anyone know if a cap off of an SVO 30# will work on this injector being that it's an SVO 24#????

Re: Doh! Need some advice.

Well, after running around like a chicken with it's head cut off all day looking for a suitable matched injector to take the cap off of, I got nada. Well, except for the local Holman Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership. They wanted $114.95 for a SINGLE pink top SVO. I said f-You very much, but I'm NOT paying that much for a simple cap.

So after searching through the local ford shops, I started calling around. One place was nice enough to give me the Ford Motorsports Tech line number. So I called them up, and the guy says to me "You can run without that cap. It had a minimal effect on the spray pattern, and is there moreso to keep anything from gunking up the head of the injector."

So, given my current situation, I've got no choice but to run without the cap. Depending on the outcome, I'll either still be searching for a cap, or ordering a new set of 30# injectors for the car that I'm trial running these in, and using a cap from my old set of 30# injectors.

Thanks guys.

You got a Napa near you? My Napa has a whole box of them for different size and satyle injectors.

Pintle injectors aren't they great ...
The Delphi disc injectors do not suffer from any of these potential problems.

If you are going to upgrade or change consider our 32's.
