Does using a lift make LT headers easier to install?

Or do you still have to jack up the motor to get them to fit?

Thanks

Yes you still will probably have to jack up the motor on one or both sides and remove the steering link but a lift will help ALOT.

I've found the best mod for longtubes is a tubular K-member. I was able to remove my old longtubes using a jackstand and handtool in less than 2 hours.

yes a lift would. don't forget new motor mounts while you are tilting the motor. sometimes the headers will bang the floorboard.

I think it would not. I kept having to come out from under and jump up on the engine, and back and forth. I think with the car lifted this could be a problem.

Plus, I would rather be on my back tugging and pulling on stuff than have to look up and hold stuff above my head all day.

Agreed. I found it easiest to have two jackstands as high as possible when I took my LTs out. I've also found it's very hard to adjust rockers with a lift, so I wouldn't say a lift makes everything easier.

You need it up at least 22 inches for the pass side header (and the motor raised off the mounts.)

I put my passenger side header (hooker lt) in from the top. The driver's side went in from underneath.

I had the car up on ramps, then, using a jack, I put about 6" of bricks between the ramp and the tire. The wheel was probably about 16-18" off the ground.

I had to unbolt the passenger side engine mount and jack the engine up about 2 inches for the passenger side header.
