Exclamation Does this sound like a starter to you? (Please help!!!)

Ok, I don't want to sound like some sort of a moron, but I wanted to double check with you all before I tore into my car. My car will start sometimes, but sometimes I won't even hear a click. I am about to replace my starter if someone doesn't think that it is otherwise.

The sensor for when you push in the clutch seemed to get a little extra sensitive a while back, unless it was JUST RIGHT it wouldn't crank. So at first I took off my bottom dash panel, and pushed the button in with my finger, and it still wouldn't start I also tried unplugging the sensor and it still wouldn't start. Put everything back to gether, and of course same problem. I came out a few hours later, and it started right up.

Do you think that I just have a bad starter solenoid? It has rained VERY heavily here for the past few days as well. Also, if you unplug that clutch sensor, does it disable it where you don't have to push in the clutch to start it, because I never leave my car in gear when I park it anyway. Please let me know ASAP. Thank you very much in advance.

Aaron

I Think that you have to put in a jumper wire to bypass the switch. Simply unplugging it would be the same as never pushing in the clutch. So you might want to try that before you replace the starter when ever it doesn't want to start. Unless you have a heat soak problem.

I agree that it's a 'normally open' switch..
Also check all the cable/wiring connections and grounds..

I would say its your starter, but first you should clean all your connections, batt, junction, starter, real good just to be sure that isnt the problem.

Any other symptoms to go along with the no-start condition?

There are no other symptoms. I went out about 3 hours later, and it worked perfect, and has worked perfect all day today. I don't know if it was all of the rain or what. I know that I won't be taking any long trips until I KNOW that it is fixed.
