Well lately my gas mileage has been getting worse and worse and worse, till now im barely getting 10 mpg. and yes i just recently did the plugs. Ne ways i also have a problem of losing power down low(i cant spin my tires ne more) however at higher rpms it still hauls ***. I live in s. florida and recently its been rainig hard. Everytime i drive it in rain it seems to shudder REALLY bad at the low rpms. I thought i might be sucking up water. However now i think of it, im startin to think water is getting in my opti. Whats your LT1 guru opinions on this before i go and tear everything apart to get to my opti????

 

just keep driving it, if it gets worse and worse its the opti. If its only doing it in wet weather then its prolly something else related to the ignition getting wet. Make sure there are no cracks in any wires etc.. When Opti's go they can do a lot of wierd stuff, like miss at low rpms/make the car shack or at high rpms miss as well.

 

Any SES lights?

Mine will flash the SES light when a misfire is detected. This has happend in heavy rain.

 

I don't think that cars with OBD 1 will detect a miss like your '97 will.

 

ya i ve never seen an SES light and im pretty sure OBD1 wouldnt show that for misses as ive had lots of missing in my car through out the years. lol. Now my car is missing at low rpms like a **** as well. So im pretty sure its the opti. Do you guys say i buy a new opti or try and clean my out???

 

does it shutter at low rpms when it is warm, and as soon as you go to about 3/4 trottle it goes like a ****? but when the engine is cold it'll drive nice before going into a closed loop? mine is doing that and i think it might be the o2 sensors., i do have an old opti that the water pump seems to be leaking on. im interested in seeing what everyone else has to say.

 

Mine just did that once after I pressure washed the engine, sign of things to come.
