does this sound like i need a new thermostat?

ok, i live in dallas and it has been really hot this summer, i'm running a 160* thermostat for quite a while now, but this summer the car has been running hotter than normal, not overheating just more like a LT1 with a stock thermostat instead of a 160*. it got really high only once when i was sitting in traffic, other than that not even close to everheating.

well today we got a cold front and i took the Z out this morning in the 60 degree weather, now normally when it is cool like this the temp sits just a hair above 160, but it still ran like it had the stock thermostat and warmer than normal.

i've checked the coolant and it is fine and there are no leaks.

You might want to check for debris in front of your radiator. You can always test the thermostat in a pan on the stove to see if it is opening up all the way. You might even need a system flush.

the coolant reservoir had cracked and was leaking earlier this summer, i replaced it and the leak was fixed, but at the same time i started noticing the temp.

i'll check for the debris, and test the thermostat too.

Did you get all the air out of the lines? I had to mess with mine for a while cause a little air was still in it. Make sure when you bleed the air you turn the heater on the the heater core will bring the coolant through. Let us know man
