Does a new clutch require a break-in period?
I just got a completely new clutch installed and was wondering if it will require a break-in period. I was thinking about running my car at the track this Friday or should I reconsider running it? Thanks for all input in advance.

I have read quite a few posts where people have clutch problems shortly after a new one was installed. A lot of times these people are the same ones that drove it hard right after the install and didn't care about the break in. I would advise against racing. My spec stage 2 clutch recommended 400+ miles of easy driving before driving it hard.

I installed mine saturday night then went driving. For about 30 minutes i was constantly accel. and decel. between 30 and 70, shifting two or three times each way. Then went through town for about an hour or so the next day. The chatter and grabbiness stopped and was smooth as glass. Called it broken it and started beating on it
Had about 100 miles or so on it, but as much as i was shifting it, it had to be broken in. The clutch isn't doing anything while it's engaged so it's the slipping and such that actually breaks it in. After you "lazy" shift it a good bit you should be good.
