Does a cylinder head have to warp to blow a headgasket?

Just got my heads checked on the car. I apparently have a blown headgasket, but the heads checked out fine. Wondering if the head has to warp in order to blow a headgasket or not?

No, the gasket itself can fail. But if you do blow a head gasket It is a good idea to make sure everything is flat before you put it back together (and check for cracks)

As stated above, your head gaskets can fail without warping a head. From my experience, a head gasket failure is a symptom, you need to get to the root cause of why they failed. Sources for failure are pre-detonation, heads not torqued down properly, etc.

Well the root cause was overheating because of a clogged radiator. I can't find a blown spot in the headgaskets so now I'm gonna have to get the heads pressure tested
