Does CAI really increase gas mileage?
I say its impossible. More air equals more fuel therefore youd get worse gas mileage.. in my theory. I have heard so many people say they increase gas mileage probably because they read it in an advertisment but when you actually think about how computer controlled cars work it just doesnt make sense. How can it be any other way?

No.....keeping your foot out of it will help, but the fun factor is directly proportional to the depression of the accelerator. Seriously, I have no data but I doubt there would be any measureable increase in fuel economy.

Your a/f still stays the same, it's just easier for your engine to get the air it needs, making it more efficient at working.

Re: Does CAI really increase gas mileage?
engine is just a big air pump, the more air in and out the more potential for greater power...better intake and exhaust systems make it easier to pump that air therefore wasting less energy and working not as hard/less
Re: Does CAI really increase gas mileage?
I log every tank and haven't done anything that has effected fuel economy(other than driving habits)! I even used roadtrips for some constant speed tests, and since I did the same trip multiple times one summer tried some stuff out. Couldn't notice a significant difference with and w/o CAI or with cut-out open or closed.
