does anyone have any problems removing the plugs with the hooker long tubes
i was just wonderin because i need to get rid of the edelbrocks for something else. thanks for the input
It probally take around 1.5-2.5 hours to change the plugs depending on how well you can work on your car.I can change them in less than an hour but I have done it a few times. Having a BMR K-Member might help a little but the K-member is not in the way that much. I dont know how many guy do it this way but I just use a 5/8" spark pulg socket and a 3/4" open end wrench to change my plugs. And always use never seize on my spark plugs.
what do you mean took 3 hrs. why? im so curious now becasue i have the edelbrock and i cant back the plugs out of the head all the way with out removing the header from the head. this is an issue on both sides, not so bad tho on the drive side. thanks for the fast responses, please tell more!!!
The only ones that are difficult to get at are the back 2 on the passengers side. It just takes a little time (NOT 3 hours) to get your hand in there. It really isnt THAT hard. I love the plug access, but then again I have skinny hands.
It took me so long because there isn't a whole lot of room to fit a socket and wrench, ratchet, or anything in there. Some people have a smaller plug socket that they use but I don't, I'm sure it would have helped alot. What took the most time was getting the plug in; it kept cross-threading and the few times I got it in straight the socket wouldn't come off the plug. I also got very frustrated which didn't help anything.
I went from Edelbrock shorties to Hookder long tubes. The Edelbrocks were such a pain in the a$$, I just cut the tubes off with a sawzall, then removed the flanges from the heads.
Anyway, plug access is soooooo much better
. I can change the plugs in 20 minutes easy. Course I have no AC or heater, or the lines, or that stupid box under the hood that used to protrude from the firewall - so there's plenty of room to get to 6 and 8 from the top

if anybody can do them fast, can you post a pic of the tools you use? it takes me lots of time to even get a tool close to the plug; holding the new plug in front of the hole is a challenge a well...
I bought an open wrench that is 'bent' like: ___/-- and it has helped but it still sucks

Drop the starter for #6 and 8.
I can do them all in about 30 min. I made a tool. Took a standard size socket (5/8ths ? forget what they are). Drilled out the place where the ratchet normally attaches so that it can slide over the plug totally. Then welded an old open end wrench the the end of it and bent it a tad. Works like a charm.

plug access is killer with hooker LT's. did mine in no time at all. the back 2 on the passenger side are more difficult, but still easy enuff to do... it takes about as much time to get those 2 off as it does the other 6. plug WIRES are still a pain in the ***... easy up top, but a real bitch down low on the passenger side... but that's gonna be that way no matter what you do.

If you don't market it, I will.
