Angry Does anyone elses heat suck??

I don't know why but my car is so damn cold!! It takes forever to blow out warm air, and when it does it's not even that warm at all. The temperature stays at around 180* so shouldn't that be warm enough to actually have good heat? When the temp goes up higher from being in traffic it gets a little warmer but as soon as I start moving the car goes right back down to 180* and the air is cooler again! It really makes for an uncomfortable ride late at night when it's like 20*outside. Does anyone else have this problem?

Could be that the temperature **** is not moving the mix door that routes the hot air or the door itself is stuck.

Do you have a 160 deg. Thermostat? I do and I have the same problem as you and believe it to be the thermostat. I am going to take my Hypertech programming out and try that for a day or two(just as a lazy fix) if that don't help am gonna put a hotter thermostat in. Guess that'll be another for the winter thing to do. I'll try to let ya know what happens.

Mine has been that way for as long as I've owned it, hard to warm in the winter-hard to cool in the summer.

take your heater hoses off of the hoses coming off the fire wall, and use a garden hose and spray out the heater core. I just did mine and it helps alot.

You will have to access the back of the control **** to see if the cable is being moved properly, if it is then you can check it at the other end at the mix door.

Could be a clogged heater core like camaro4lifez28 said, too. That is more likely the problem.

I hear u Rick, I'm having the same damn problem. I'm thinking it has to be something to do with the thermostat. But i could be wrong cuz my friends 94 Z28 runs cooler then mine and his heat DOES work fine.

I have a 160 degree thermostat and my car ran so cold in the winter I couldn't use the heater otherwise the needle would never lift. I fixed it by unplugging my fans. Infact I drove it last winter, for about 3 months with no cooling fans. I didn't even overheat when It was in traffic, so long as the heat has been switched on.

I think most of your experiences are not the norm.

I have 160* t-stat, temp for fans lowered to 82/85*C, and I get LOTS of heat in the winter, even in the recent sub 20*F snow weather. I use about a 80/20 mix of water/anti-freeze, with DEI Radiator Relief (like Water Wetter).

I mean... it'll get hot enough that I have to turn it off and just let the air be pulled through from the car moving. And the temp gauge still goes up fine.

So, I suggest you get your cooling system flushed and fill with a good mix of mostly water. Works great for me!

My heat sucked too until I flushed it like camaro4lifez28 did. Heater never worked better since. Brown stuff came out just like his. Try it, worse thing that could happen is your heater core gets flushed.

That sounds like a mix door stuck in the hvac box. Or a vacuum line/solinoid.
