does anybody have tru duals?
hey ya i got some hooker long tubes and i was wondering if anybody tryed or has the true dual setup?? and if u do have u notice a lose in power or gain?? and how u set yurs up . . thanks for the replys
a large percentage of board members are running true duals setups, ive heard its costly but will out flow all catback designs on a highly modified car. on a stock LT1 tho they prolly kill alot of backpressure/low end torque, however h/p should go up.
also welcome to the board...you should do a search on true duals, you'll find tons of info that'll have you reading for days b4 you decide on what to go with. mostly all popular topics (i.e which exhaust to go with, or best cai) can be researched using the search button and some people have posted exactly what you want to know too its very helpful, we all could/should use it a lil more
...good luck

If you are willing to live with the compromises then a true dual setup can be quite rewarding.
First off, remember that these cars were never designed to run a true dual setup so ground clearance becomes an issue. I have a little bit different setup than most on here at this particular time.
I have Hooker Jet Hot coated LTs and Flowtech purple hornies header mufflers. I had some O2 bungs welded into the header mufflers and had them shortened up a bit to clear my Double Diamond subframes.
They still mount right up against the bottom of the car and induce some wierd vibrations into the whole vehicle.
It runs better than ever though, and the sound is truly unique.
In the future I plan on running a custom bent true dual system with some mufflers called Lowbaks. They are a muffler that the late model guys use at I-70 speedway and Lakeside (local circle tracks)
Power gains are great with Long Tube headers but you will need to be able to deal with the compromises.

I had true duels with dynomax bullits, added some lowbac's due to the sound levels, my low end went up slightly, and the top end cut off slightly, but barely noticible. I noticed the low end more than the loss at the high end. However ground clearance becomes an issue. Currently I am removing the duel setup because of the clearance issue where I live, and also due to the sound levels. Nassau county cops are in the top 5 of highest paid cops in the nation, I believe they are #2 but im not sure. And there are also so many of them, so they recently have been getting flack from many people for being overpaid so they are going out of their way to be a PITA.
I have true duals through a dr. gas x-pipe, dynomax bullets, and dumped before the axle. Ground clearance is not as good, you just have to be really careful on speedbumps and things like that. also, you'll get some funny vibrations if you tuck it up near the floor pan like you will need to do to get any ground clearance at all. However, it sounds amazing with a good set of heads and a nice big cam and power was great even before the cam. No dyno numbers though sorry.
