Do your rockers make any noise?

I was in the drive thru today and noticed a very slight ticking sound bouncing off the wall next to me. I got home and listened to my engine with the hood open, and I can hear very slight valvetrain noise. Not an individual tick, but just slight mechanical music coming from under the valve covers.
Do you guys have the same sounds? Or are your engines dead quiet? I will probably pop off my valve covers tomorrow and recheck my valve lash, but I thought i'd check here first. I am probably just being ****.

your going to hear some noise, but if you have any question about a rocker pull the valve cover. I have had mine come out of adjustment ever so slightly from time to time. (partly due to poly lock tightness.)

It should sound smooth and uniform, with all valves making the same noise.

The best way I can describe it as the mechanical whir of a sewing machine. No one "tick" should stand out.
If you think you hear a tick that is louder than normal you should also take a look to see if your spark plugs are loose. They too can make the same type of metallic tick.

My nsa pro mag rr's are pretty noticeable as well. I was told by the previous owner it's normal... and haven't heard otherwise since

I have Comp NSA 1.6s and it sounds like a well oiled sewing machine. You
can't miss it as it's a very distinct, mechanical sound. It should be uniform
bank to back. I'm also running the Comp Rs with about 1/8 turn lash. When
ever I get tired of hearing it I just drop the top.

Mine definitely makes a rhythmic noise. Not an individual tick. I guess it's nothing to worry about.

Sounds like a warehouse full of sewing machines, this is normal with various volume levels.

With my stock cam they could be heard but it was faint. With my bigger than stock cam with more lift and faster ramps they are definitely louder but not too bad.

The noise is a result of the fulcrum main bearings and the roller tip accelerating then stopping to reverse direction then accelerating then reversing direction at high speeds.

Some roller rockers claim to be more quiet than others but I am confident in saying there is not a big difference. Nothing to worry about assuming they are properly loaded and adjusted.

Depends on your rockers. My SA Crane Gold 1.6rrs make quite a bit of noise, but that is expected. Lucky for me my exhaust drowns it all out

Mine sounded a lot like a sewing machine with Pro Mag Rockers, however I changed my comp r lifters while replacing all my 918 springs with the LS7 lifters and am happy to report that it is much quieter! I still hear a bit of a tick after the car is warmed up but think that might be the MAC headers primary slip fit leaking...

Explaining what you have for valvetrain parts might help determine if you have a problem or not.

Mine make very little noise ... more like a faint whirring. They're adjusted to zero + 3/8 of a turn. I do use the stock valve covers without any modifications. The last time I had them off I noticed a couple of the rockers (Crane Gold 1.6 S/A) had some of the anodizing rubbed off. No ridges or grooves could be felt nor any "gold dust" was found. The next time I take the covers off I'll "squeeze" the stiffening webs in those locations.
