you are correct
cut out before mufflers but it can go after cats if you just want to bypass muffler so to speak

i have true true duals, i dont have an X or H pipe. just headers to the mufflers and then out the sides. same on both sides. i've been told by all the f-body guys around that they have never heard an lt1 as loud as mine. i would probibly recommend a X pipe. it evens out the sound and in my opinion would sound better. i dont know for a fact but thats my 2 cents
