These lifters still have a some oil in them from when i pulled them from the engine. Do i really have to soak them or can i install them and poor alittle bit of oil down the lifter hole.. plus i'll also be pre lubing the engine so oil will splash on them..

also whats the torque # for the oil pressure sending unit.. Or is just 1/2 down on the threads pointing towards the drivers side.

Personally, I have never had any luck "soaking" lifters, I guess maybe if you did it for two days or something it might work. What I do, is take a oil pump cam, and pump oil into the side of the lifter, you will have to move it around some to get it to seal, pump it untill oil comes out of the top of the lifter, were the plunger is, when it does, the lifter is pumped up.

the oil sending unit, it should be tight, I have been turning bolts for a while now and can feel when something is snug, and past snug, and verg of stripping out, as long as you have some teflon on the threads, snug should be just fine on it.

hope this helps

I agree with Jason's post above. New roller lifters come with a protectorant film when boxed at the factory. Comp Cams recommends this film be removed and the lifters oiled. This can be done with a squirt can of oil as Jason mentions. Used lifters should be already oil filled, but it pays to be safe and reoil them.

I found out the hard way about oiling lifters. When I replaced my cam, I dipped them in assemby lube but did not soak or inject them. What a wonderful racket they made for the first 10 seconds until they pumped up.

That was about 100,000 miles ago and eveything has been fine since but I will not be doing that again!
