Question Do you need new springs w/ 1.6 rockers?

Hey guys,

My dad and i are putting an LT1 in his 97 Chevy K1500 and i have a few question for you.

We have some 1.6 roller rockers left over from his first engine rebuild and we want to use them on the LT1. I did a search but havent been able to come to a conclusion about this subject.

Do you need new springs with the 1.6 roller tip rockers?
If so which ones or how do i figure that out?
Finally, the rockers are NSA which guide plates should i use and do the heads have to be machined to accept them?

Thank you for your help, hope to hear from you,
Aaron

Yes, you do. If you're using the stock cam, the hotcam springs should be fine. You'll need hardened pushrods and guideplates. The guideplates are from Trick flow.

I'd HIGHLY suggest getting atleast LT4 springs even if your running the stock cam.

No machining is required for guideplates if you have aluminum LT1 heads.
