do you have to use a paddle kit with 4.10's?
I ordered some 4.10's from slp and a takeoff differential and the guy said i had to buy the paddle kit, but i didn't think you had to use one. Can anyone confirm that you do have to use it, cuz it was expensive! I'd like to send it back if i can.
I use 4.10s with a take-off posi from SLP. You don't have to use paddles with the take-off unit. There is something the dude who installed my gears had to do to get it to work. He said he had to grind down a ring gear a little bit but not in place that has tooth contact or will make the gears weak. I don't know the specifics, he called SLP and they told him what to do.
Hey, thanks for the reply man. The guy i talked to at slp sounded like a *** anyways. I told him that i read on their website that the paddles were only needed for the HD differential, but he swore you needed those paddles. I may use them anyway cuz i already have them, and don't want to pay a restocking fee.
The tech who installed the gears took a picture to show me what he had to do. He has done alot of gears in LT1s and LS1s but this was the first time he ever installed an SLP take-off posi and 4.10s so he had to call SLP, their exact words were "yeah, we know". Then they told him what he had to do.
Sorry but I don't have the picture any more or I would have sent it to you.
