Do these times seem right?

I went up to the track tonight for probably the last time this summer. For some reason at this track, although notoriously slow (Quaker City Raceway... Salem, Ohio), I can't break into the 13's. I have a 96 M6 Z28, hooker headers (not LT's) Borla Catback, and G2 airlid ( i know it sucks but it was what on the car and I can't afford to buy a new one). I ran a best of 14.2 @ 98.24 with a 60' time of 2.207. Should I be running faster? I ran against a 2002 SS which ran 14.015 @97.86 (don't know how he trapped slower, maybe b/c I redlighted?) and his 60' was 2.169. Is the track this slow or am I just sucking at the track?

Hmm... bone stock I ran 14.1 @ 97mph on a 2.1 60ft and a worst time of 14.2 @ 96mph on a 2.26 60ft. You should be running MUCH faster.

Re: Do these times seem right?

what we need to know about the track is the altitude and the humidity and we can calculate it down to a 0 altitude track like I'm sure this guy is talking about.

For reference, I ran a 14.3@97 near here w/ just headers and full exhaust (shorty headers) and it calculated out (using NHRA drag racing altitude correctors) to a 13.7@103 which is exactly what I ran w/ the same mods in Ennis Texas.
I ran the 14.3 at 3400 or so altitude, next time you go to the track ask for the DA (density altitude)
hope this helps.

*edit/ps my best 60' ever is a 2.25 and all runs of those times where on street tires.

Hey with those mods you ran less that two tenths to a 2002 LS1 ss. I think thats great. And if your 60ft would improve you could have won. Every track time will be different where you go so try in early spring or lake fall when the temp and humidity are down.

Re: Do these times seem right?

it's all in your 60' time man. If you could knock .1 off your 60' time you would be running a 14.00. You know what they say, every tenth off your 60' is 2 tenths of your quarter. Are u experienced with drag racing your car?? I'm probably in the same boat that you are, i've only been drag racing with my current setup twice, and i am still learning the ropes. My car traps at 112mph but the best e/t i can get is a 12.93 all because my 60' licks. I should be running a lot lower e/t, but my 60' is killing me. Just another aspect to look at.

With headers and CAI (the G2) he should be trapping at least 100mph.. its not just the 60s..unless he cant shift.

Re: Do these times seem right?

i agree, he should be trapping higher than 98mph, i just threw that idea out there too. Even with a terrible 60' his trap would still show at somewhat normal.

Re: Do these times seem right?

Shifting might be an issue since my tac has never worked so I just go by feel, and might short it by a few hundred RPMs so I don't hit the rev limiter but I doubt its that big of a factor. This track was at Salem, Ohio and the humity was high (it got eventually rained out). Last year, when I had my LS1, the typical times were 14.0's or 13.9's for stock LS-1's. I ran 13.4 there with mine untuned and Futura tires on the back (oh yeah pepboys special).

How is the Borla opened? Big hole? Completely uncapped? That's how you should run it.

My guess is that the crappy 60 foots are hurting you in ET, but the MPH is down as well... Can you shift?
