Do stock pistons go in either way?

Was putting the pistons and new bearings back on the rods and was wondering if the pistons can go on either way? Or is their a way to see which is top and which is bottom. It looks to me like it goes either way.

Re: Do stock pistons go in either way?

Never done an LT1 but every piston I have ever installed was marked on top to indicate the front of the engine and the rods were installed so the bearing tangs were on the outside or facing the side of the block the piston is in. I'm sure someone with some LT1 experience will chime in.

they should be there.....are these the stock pistons and if so have you cleaned the top of them. The marks are very hard to see if you dont.

Re: Do stock pistons go in either way?

I don't think I've seen an engine that DIDN'T require the pistons to be clocked a certain way.

Re: Do stock pistons go in either way?

That was posted before the indicator was shown to me. Its just annoyign when someone points out something that has already been discovered. Say for instance, "Hey, I broke my rear because of too much torque, where can I get a new one" and someone chimes in and says, "I bet you broke your rear from all the torque." Its just better off not to post redundancies.
