"Do a search" Commentary

I see a lot of people that are pi$$ed about getting
told to do a search on a topic. The question I have
is why would you not do a search first to get instant
results? The bottom line for asking a question is to
get responses to that question. Why not save some
time on the whole deal and try a search?

I have found some of the best information late at night
doing searches on different topics. I am amazed at the
amount of detailed information available.

"Do a search" is a positive thing, not a brush off.

Teach me to search

I do searches on every issue I have and mostly get threads with the exact same probs but no fix or responce why, it appears people don't update the thread when the problem is resolved

search first, ask later.

I'm amazed at how many will just be lazy and post and spend all day refreshing for an answer on something simple as: "Best Bang for the buck"
"Best catback"
"Best tires"
"ooh ohh, will i beat this guy"

Bunch of pansies man, do some of the work yourself. I've ALWAYS done that, actually, doing it right now.

There are some new members who aren't aware of the "Search" button here. So, a polite reminder is usually best instead of us getting all upset that the same question was asked last week

I see this too, but usually opt to ressurect the dead thread. This keeps all the good info together, and it's pretty easy to just say "Anyone figure this out yet?" type of thing versus rewording the same trouble in your own thread.

I have found the requests to search very polite. It's just
surprising when someone gets all bent out of shape when
asked to go search. To each his own, maybe some folks
are just never happy.

I am in love with the search button.

Saves me a lot of typing.

Yeah, I should have worded by reply differently... I normally do seem them very polite as well. Sometimes though I see people tell others to use the search followed by the :roll eyes: smilie. That smilie ( ) is about the most rude smilie we have and, for some reason, it really ticks me off when people use it. Maybe it's just me but everytime I see that sucker it makes me think the person using it is being more rude than "necessary" I suppose if that is your intent then it really does get the point across pretty good! LOL!
