i recently brought my 94 Z28 A4 with a 118,000 miles to the track for the first time since i owned it, the only thing i had done to it was a 3 inch Pypes catback system everything else stock , i would run between a 14.1 and a 14.2 , now here's where its gets weird, a couple days later i bought the SLP cold air intake system, threw it on and headed back to the track just to see the how much it improved the time. well the best time i ran that day was a 13.7 @ 99 mph all my other runs no higher then 13.9 , alot of people at the track were telling me that insane for a basicly stock LT-1, has this happened to anybody else, and is this normal. thanks

 

I ran a 13.7 with a CAI and Long Tubes Nice times though

 

13.7@99mph trap speed is nothing out of the ordinary for an cai/catback car, it just means you got a good launch.

 

Nah, but it runs well. So be happy about that.

I went 13.9 @ 99.x with just a cold air kit.. 13.8 @ 100.x with cold air and a catback.

 

mine went 13.80s at 101 bone stock.

 

Same here 13.80 @ 100 Cold Air and cat-back.. I'd say yours is launchin well.

 

What was your 60ft? Might just be getting some traction

13.3's @ 105 2.0 60ft (A4) with K&N CAI, MSD Box, no cat, and a custom (non-dynoed) tune. People said mine was a freak.

 

I went 13.5 @ 100 with CAI, cutout, and a flowmaster muffler

 

13.6@102 bone stock w/ BFG T/A tires @ Houston Raceway Park in the fall.

You are right in line with what a decent driver would do in a CAI/catback car. I ran 13.8's @ 101 with just a HPP (car came with the CAI/catback.) After a set of gears and roughly 60 passes down the track I got it down to a 13.2 @107.

 

Sorry to tell you it is normal for these cars in this area... I ran a 14.1 @ 98 completly stock, down to the stock paper air filter when I got mine many years ago...

The best I got with my limited mods (cai, cutout, tuning myself through tunercat, and bored MAF) was 13.3 @ 102 w/ 1.87 60' that was before the tranny, converter and E-water pump. But I need suspension to get my 60's any lower because I get serious wheel hop, even on the street...
