Do I need new injectors?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I didn't find anything when I searched. I'm about to install the XE 224/230 in my 93 LT1 and I still have the stock injectors. I wanted to know if i needed to upgrade to larger injectors? Thanks in Advance.

Only way to know for sure would be datalogging after it is up and running but since the 93 came with 22# as opposed to the 24# on later cars and that some of the later cars need larger injectors with cams as small as the HOT cam I will say yes go larger on the injectors now especially since you have to deal with having chips burned as opposed to the simpler reflashes of the MAF cars.

I put a 224/236 in my 93 and with stock injectors they were at 99% at like 5,000rpm. I would say it really wouldn't hurt but you would need to datamaster it to find out for sure.

Re: Do I need new injectors?

Once you top 80% it is time to begin thinking about replacing them, by 90% it becomes a VERY good idea, not only is it very hard on the injector but they begin to lose consistency and fueling isn't as good as it could be. I would take ltwonz experiance as proof you do need larger injectors.

Re: Do I need new injectors?

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to get new injectors then. My next question would be what size? Is 30 lb enough. And are there any brand of injectors that are better or is like an accell injector fine.

SVOs or Racetronix get good reviews definetely stay far away from Accel at best you will have some hard starting issues at worst, well let's just let you search the forum for the vids, very bad.

30#s should be plenty for your setup.
