Do I need 30lb injectors?

The setup is going to be a 355 with maybe lightly ported heads and a CC 305 or a 503. Should I get 30lb injectors with this setup?

I think you could get away with stock injectors and a proper tune after that upgrade. Going to 30# wouldn't hurt any. (other than the pocketbook).

So I could reuse my stock injectors. Even if they have 132k on them? I was wondering because I found a set of 30lb SVO injectors for a really good deal. Would 30lb injectors be overkill for the setup I'm planning?

30# injectors are not overkill for your setup, especially if you are getting a tune anyhow.
They'll help support future mods as well.
If you got a good deal on them and you have the money available, go for it.

I agree. I never knew how important bigger injectors were until I switched to 30# injectors for my set-up.

Re: Do I need 30lb injectors?

Personally after almost two years of researching cams and building up LT1s, I would definatly get a set of bigger injectors, espically if you are going to do ported heads and a cam as large as a 503. Lets guess that you would be putting down around 360rwhp. Can you get away with the stockers? Yeah those guys are probably right. Would you want to? In my opinion, no. Why. Because there is no need to skimp on fuel and tuning when you are that far into a motor. I would say go the extra mile and get them. The better the fuel is getting to that motor, the more hp you are likely to put out. This is information I've gathered through reading posts from some of the more prodominant members of the LT1 community.

Do you really think that the 503 is that big? If so I'll be going with the 305. This will be my daily driver for a while. I've seen that a lot of people are using the 30lb SVO injectors. Any other opinions?

Re: Do I need 30lb injectors?

The 503 would be an ok daily driver cam for you. It's not that big but it will lope below 900 rpms. I have run that cam for 2 yrs and really enjoyed its broad power band. Originally, I ran a cheap 2600 converter which got me by but it really likes 3200 to 3800. A six speed would be great. If you are looking for a "sleeper cam," I would recommend either the Crane 227, or the Comp 501. You can't hear either of them, they drive totally stock, but they make great power. Mike Harris went 11.81 at MIR in a 3800 lb. ImpalaSS with an 11 to 1 383, 501 cam, and home ported heads with stock valve sizes! The CC305 sounds and drives much like the 503 but has better bottom end, and is a bit more street friendly. You could probably get it to idle around 850 with very little detectable lope.

Well it is more of a middle range cam I think. It isn't as high as say a CC306 or GM847. I'm still waiting for mine to be installed and I hear great things about it. I am going with the 30lb SVOs as well.
