Which to do first?

Here is what Im faced with. Im ready to get my heads ported and polished. I know that with my cam and ported heads my shorty headers and 3'' catback will need to be upgraded. Im also aware of the fact that the head work would add more power than if I were to change exhaust at this point. Im not sure if I should get my long tubes and true duals first or go ahead and get my heads done and keep my shorty headers and 3'' catback until I can upgrade them later on. Decisions decisions......

I agree with 25th. If you have a full performance exhaust system I would imagine it would run fine with ported heads. I say do them first.

I know the shorties are alot better than the stock manifolds and I do have a 3'' catback but with head work I wont meet the cars full potential with my current exhaust setup. Thanks again guys.

How radical are the heads going to be P&P? Even with shorties you will still get a major gain out of heads. I'm still running MAC shorties and never considered that I was "choking" the heads by "only" having shorty headers. True I could probably pick up another 20 or 30 hp by going with LT but I could have done that on the stock heads too.

If it were me doing heads again, I'd try to get it all at once just because you are going to be pulling the headers when you do the heads anyway (at least I did). And we all know how much fun it would be to go in shortly after and redo the headers.

That's my take.

Thats what I was thinking to. I know I would see good gains from the heads even with shorties but with long tubes and duals it would definately be more. I seen a guy make 400rwhp on shorty headers and AI heads. Those are some really good number. To do them all at once would be over $2k and I will also need dyno tuning. Man, I need to win the lottery.
