Question Do CATS make a difference in sound??

The reason that I am asking this is because I have the loudmouth exhaust and its pretty loud now....inside the cabin. I was thinking about gettting MAC headers with the off-road pipe. Do you guys think that I would go deaf when I have the windows up or would it be about as loud as what I have now. Anyone with this set up or something similar let me know what you think. BTW its a daily driver. Thanks!

i will be louder...some like it some don't. with the loudmouth i think you'll find it a bit much. but you could try putting a dynomax bullet muffler in the Ipipe, either in place of the resonator or in addition to it, to quiet things down a bit without affecting flow.

Where would be the best place to get the Dynomax bullet muffler?

It will be louder, as well as more tinny sounding. You also may smell a bit of gas, in my experience.

I have the Flowmaster catback system, and it sounded great. Then I bought the MAC headers and Y-pipe and put them on. (No cats) It made it alot louder, but added a sharp rap to the exhaust. I then installed a straight through bullet muffler after the Y-pipe and it took the rap away and left the original deep exhaust tone of the Flowmaster. Although it is still louder than with cats.

I don't have headers, just factory manifolds. Going from stock exhaust to the loudmouth made a huge difference in sound. A few months later, gutting the cat made an even bigger difference than the LM did...it's loud as hell now but sounds beastly and mean . I don't think the cat actually made a bigger difference in tone than the muffler (or lack thereof)...if I gutted the cat with a stock exhaust it would prolly sound milder than the loudmouth did with a cat. But the combination of the the gutted cat and the loudmouth basically took away any form of muffling on my car.
