DMH cutout: Single vs. Dual, Flowtech vs. Borla cutout

I did a search, came back with 24 threads, but all they really do is rave about the product, I didn't find my answer.

1. What applications require the Borla, and which require the Flowtech cut-out, or is it just a personal preference? What's the difference between the two?

2. 383 making ~500 flywheel HP. Jet Hot LT Headers. Not sure what Y-pipe or catback I'm going to go with yet, I've got to talk to Bret and see what I wrote down that he reccomended that flowed good... But, When using these cutouts, you pretty much have to get custom Y-pipe fabbed I assume, no using an already built Mufflex or Jet Hot Y-pipe I assume...

3. What's the advantage to running 2 cutouts after the headers vs. 1 cutout where the Y comes togother?

Thanks!

1. The borla is for the borla catback...it replaces the plate thing...the flowtech is just a regular catback meant for intermediate pipes and such

2. for a 383 i would defianetly get the dual cutouts, youre going to be moving a lot of air, and with one 3 inch cutout that may not strain the last bit of power out of it

hope i helped

So pretty much everyone then is paying $20-$40 to get the Flowtech cutouts instead of the Borla? I'm not familiar with the borla plate...

Although I'm leaning towards the duals...

on the right side pipe, theres 2 flanges.....see those plates?...they go in between to let a certain amount thru, instead of climbing under the car everytime you wanna change the tone/loudness you can just install a cutout right there instead

Yes, borla has a built in bypass for their catbacks.

Gotcha yeah I didn't know that was how they set it up on the Borla's with the DMH...that's pretty cool.

It will probably make a whole lot more work for myself (or the guy that does my Y-Pipe) by going with dual cutouts, but I don't know, I'd just rather have 2 than 1...

I kind of want it different though...I want the Flowtech elbows on the corners and the cutout straight down the path of the collector, and not have to have it veer off...dunno how feasible this is though.

I recently returned flowtech cutouts, because they wouldn't fit with dual DMH cutouts off of hooker long tubes. I was very unimpressed. I had a custom y-pipe with cutouts made.
