Cool Distributor Help!!

Hi, I recently purchased a 94 z28 and i'm about to perform a complete tune-up on my car. Although i know most of what i'm gonna do, i do not know what to get as far as a new distributor...so if anyone with experience on the subject reads this, please drop a line and give me a recommendation on what i should get.

Thanks

You can get a new, complete, OEM GM unvented OptiSpark distributor for about $290 from Jason Cromer (do a "search" for his contact info"). A "dealer" is going to charge you at least twice that number. I wouldn't recommend anything other than the genuine GM part.

Before you jump into changing it (approx. 4 hours labor) do you have any problems you feel are associated with the distributor? How many miles on the car? Unless you have a problem, this might be an area to assume "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

You also might want to do a search on the term "optispark" just to see what kind of problems are associated with them, where to buy, how much they cost, how to install, common installation errors, etc. I would guess that at least 20% of the posts here are somehow related to the infamous Opti.
