Displacement and Emissions
Displacement and Emissions
I was reading the thread about the LE1 package being worth it and a couple of comments raised my curiousity a bit.
With all else being equal (cam, heads, etc) will a 383 have lower emissions than a 350? Granted, a setup optimized for a 350 will not be optimized for a 383, but if there is a general rule, I'd like to understand the reasoning. Thanks.

Re: Displacement and Emissions
As a general rule a large cam will not effect a stroker as much as a stock displacement engine, but what dirties up your exhaust is the valve overlap. As lift duration goes up this will increase. Loyd will flatout tell you none of his cams will pass emissions, this is mostly due to the 110LSA they are ground on. Even in a 383, they probably still won't pass the sniffer test. Your just gonna have to get a smaller cam, maybe somethinf like the 224/230.

You might check with Lloyd again. Some of that may have changed.
