Disappointed with time...where should I be?

I went to the track the other night and I was disappointed with my times. The best I ran was a 13.5 at 106. mods are:

lt4 hotcam kit
lt4 ed timing chain set
lpe cai
373 gears
hooker ceramic coated lt with mufflex orp
borla catback
underdrive pulley
royal purple fluids(may not seem like much, but i have seen cars dyno more hp just by switching to royal purple fluids)
m6 with spec stage 2 clutch
madZ28 tune
nitto 555r 275/40/17

are these times right? what should i be running? anyone else have similar mods? my friends stock a4 z28 with 273 gears ran a 14.0. with gears he will run what i am....by the way panhard rod, torque arm, stb, sfc, lcas are in the mail. how much will these help? thanks.

MPH should be higher, alot higher. Are you bogging it off the line? A really suck *** 60 FT, and if you bog it MIGHT ... MIGHT ... be enough for the slow times, id still assume the car needs a tune up or soemthing though. A big thing people forget about is the fuel filter ... cahnge em every 15000 miles. Plugs and wires ?

I was just getting ready to say fuel filter and plugs as well. The fuel filter is often overlooked.

I think the mph is about right, it could be up around 108 or so. Your main problem is traction. Even with a 106mph you should be into the 12s. What did your 60' look like?

your mph is way down. I would suggest plug/wires and fuel filter. You should be traping 110+ with Hotcam and bolt ons.

What was your 1/8 mile time and particularly MPH, as I am curious whether my car is running up to par MPH-wise? On a decent night it pulled the time and MPH in sig, and it'll be next year before I make it to Morocco to get some 1/4 mile times.

With you mph you should be running 12.6-8's. What is your short time? I'm guessing traction is your biggest problem. You should be in the 1.8's with the amount of power you are making. Concentrate your efforts on chassis and tire tuning and you will find a lot more ET.

my traction isnt that bad, i do have some wheel hop though. also, i just changed my fuel filter, and I found out that I have a miss in my engine now. After I change plugs and wires, I will post new times. Also I just got in sfc, stb, phr, lcas,ta all adjustable bmr, what do you think i will run then?

Your time isn't that bad. I imagine it might have been pretty warm during that run you being in AZ? That's still better than my best time w/mods in sig. Not everyone's cars run the same at the track w/similar mods.

i didnt run it stock, but i ran a 98 z28 when i was stock and he only won by a car. the z28 was an auto convertible with flowmaster exhaust. so i guess its not that great anyways. temperature was only about 75 degrees F (night time) elevation is about a little over 1200 feet

Re: Disappointed with time...where should I be?

DA has been about 2500ft for the last few weeks, so times will get a little bit better in the winter. Your time is way slow for what you have done to that car though. I ran the time in my sig a few weeks ago. You should go MUCH faster than that even without a cam. I hope to trap 110 in my WS6 with boltons, so I agree with saint that you should easily go 110+ with a cam. What track was this at? Firebird or Speedworld? Are your nittos dr's? If they are you need to play with them a little bit to get them to hook. Our tracks suck so you will probably only be able to get 2.0's out of them anyways.

What was your 60'?

FWIW my first run after the cam was a 14.2 @ 106 with 2.4-2.5 60'. The track I was running on was so bad that I was loosing traction in 3rd gear with street tires. After switching tracks and finding some DRs I managed a best this fall of 13.056 @ 108.59 with a 2.166 60'. So you see traction is everything.

i ran at speedworld, i like that track. i havent been to firedird, not sure where it is either, although i remember seeing signs for it sometime. my nittos are just regular extremes, not drs. do you go to speedworld? maybe one day when me and my buddy head over there we can meet up. we want to make some more friends with f-bodies. i am in yuma, but i like to go to phoenix a lot. i dont know a whole lot of people there yet though. i had wheel hop, i will have to go get my time slips to check my 60 ' and the other times. i am at my buddies house right now. when i get them, ill post the official times.
