differences b/t LT1 vs. LT4?

I have the LT4 intake, hotcam and LT4 heads. So, can I buy an LT1 cam? What's the major differences b/t the two, and what parts can you mix and match??

Wow..thanks man. Everything I needed to know!!! One question though. LT4s were an upgrade on the LT1s as of 1996, at least in Corvettes, or so I read. My TA is a 1995. Most of the LT4 upgrades are to the valvetrain, heads and pistons, basically. Could my ride be an LT1 with most of these upgrades coming aftermarket? If so, I may not have the undercut and rolled crankshaft, shallow cut pistons to increase compression, or dual front mass dampeners. What I'm asing is whether my ride is an LT4 or an LT4 "clone"? Any thoughts?

Your car is a LT1, with LT4 heads/intake and a LT4 hotcam. The block is goign to be a LT1 block with 2 bolt main caps, with LT1 internals.

Also, the LT4 hotcam is not the same as the LT4 cam. The hotcam is larger.

So visually I suppose you could call it a LT4 clone, but your car is going to be making more power than a stock LT4.

Well, I want to get a bigger cam. I was suggested a 236/242 .560/.580 112LSA. That means I'll probably have to spin to 6500+ rpm to get the max power. I'm wondering if my crankshaft and single dampener will be able to hold up to those high rpms.
