difference between piston rings

On KB pistons, what is the difference between the top piston ring and the middle ring. They look exactly the same and are market the same. Is there any difference?

I found this out

The top ring is Moly and the second is ductile iron.

how can you tell the difference between moly and ductile iron

One should be shiny and the other one dull on the edge. Can't remember which is which, lol. They should be labeled in the box.

they were all messed up in the box. I called the machine shop they said the light gray (shiny) is the moly and the dark gray is the iron.
