Difference between 95 and 97 LT1 motor???
What are the differences of these two different years of lt1....i have a 95 camaro and i just put a 97 motor in it well the only thing i thought different was the computer and the timing cover.....So i put my 95 style opti on the 97 timing cover.....and motor.....car is running like crap missing and backfireing it seems to be getting worse as it runs or is drivin.....am i tearing up my 95 style opti for some reason...it has new plugs and wires.....also,,,any help would be appreciated
Re: Difference between 95 and 97 LT1 motor???
Well in a nut shell, the exhaust (96+ have dual cats) The optispark is Non-vented and the timing cover is different design, as well as the fact that the 96+ have a crank sensor) and the 97s have the newer redesigned dash in them...thats all i can think of off the top of my head...
Re: Difference between 95 and 97 LT1 motor???
95 was still OBD-I, 97s were OBD-II. Not an acutal engine difference, but if you are running the 97 computer as well and don't have the post-cat O2 sensor that is gunna make the car run in open loop i think (i know removing pre-cat O2s will force open loop operation, not sure about post-cat on an OBD-II seutp).
The 95/97 opti setup is the same, so is the dowel pin on the cam.
