A bigger cam with stock programming will be noticable, with most cams you need to bump the idle up a little otherwise there will be noticable lope. Well tuned the 227 should not be noticed by most people. The Hypetech and stock tune just will not be great, you should really consider something else like pcmforless , EW, madZ28, etc.

I have a ZZ3 cam with pcmforless programming and most mechanics have to be told the engine is not stock. I ran it with stock tune for a little while due to locking my spare pcm up and on the stock tune(Caprice so a little different) that cam loped 208/221.

Thanks for the feedback and info on the ZZ3. Now the
big decision is custom program or not. What's nice is
I don't have to have a custom tune. I have the HPP+
cam/header/supercharger cartridge so I should probably
try the cam program just to see what it does. I plan to
do dyno runs with the HPP+ w/o cam tuning and then w/
the cam tuning. And if all else fails, go the custom tune
route. Heck, if what I have read on the board is correct,
a tune may even get me 15-20 more rwhp. Based on the
wide ban I could go a bit leaner so I'm sure there is some
HP there.
