Cool Difference in the 3145 vs 3151 Cloyes T. Chain?! ---

What are the differences in the Cloyes Double Roller #3145 (305/350 w/ FACTORY Roller Cam) vs the Cloyes Double Roller # 3151 (lt1/lt4/L99, 1995-up). Is it worth the $79-$349 difference?!

I think I remember hearing the 3145 requires timing chain cover modification for clearance, but it is minimal? Thanks ---

The 3151 is advertised incorrectly, look at the specs, it's a single roller:

Timing Chain Style: Single roller

This is basically an LT4 Extreme Duty set from what I understand, marketed under the Cloyes name instead of the GMPP name.

The 3145 is just fine and the better choice if you are going with an electric water pump.

Damn, now I am confused. Hopefully Summit is just messing up their info on the site. I cant find it for sale anywhere else to double check, I mean even the stock lt4 replacement set is only $250 at Jegs!!! ---

I just found on another forum that the 3151 allows the use of the cam driven waterpump and the 3145 forces you to go electric waterpump? Is that the ONLY difference? Do they use the same crank gear and chain?! ---

What are you confused about? The 3151 is *not* a double roller. It's a misprint on the Summit site.

Stock LT4 replacement is not the same as an extreme duty set either btw.

If you want a double roller, and have an electric water pump, buy the 3145.

If you do not have an electric water pump, you have NO options for a double roller and must stick with the 3151 or Extreme Duty set (same thing) as your stronger chain options.

Not much else to it.

Thanks Javier. The thing is, I am buying a 4340 stroker crank off a buddy of mine , and the crank is INSTALLED in his engine right now (just never started). He cant get the timing crank sprocket off the crank and is trying to sell me his 3151 chain for $250 (new), and SAYS its a double roller (IN HIS HANDS).

Its easy for him to sell me it AS a 3151 and it may ACTUALLY be a 3145, but I dont like to think my friend is that way. Thanks ---
