Angry Did I break it?

Ok…so I tried bleeding my clutch again today…this time using the clutch pedal itself. So I had with the Clutch Master Cylinder cap on I started pumping the Clutch pedal…(BTW the actual Slave Cylinder it’s self was out the vehicle dangling from a cord) So as I pumped the clutch pedal I notice it was going down all the way. So Pumped it a bit harder…then *POOOOFFFF* my mouthed dropped open. What the hell did I break this time? So I go around to the front of the car and I notice brake fluid everywhere. It was all around the Clutch master Cylinder. After I went and changed my underwear. I cleaned the area up a bit. I checked the system for any Cracks…Leaks or anything showing a hose Burst ETC found nothing… pulled the Diagram out...Perfect. I filled the Master Cylinder up with more fluid again. When I got back in the car and pressed the Clutch pedal down there was no resistance not what so ever. The clutch pedal felt looser than a 3dollar working girl. So I tried it the original way with pressing the Slave cylinder in. As I did this I had a friend helping me. After the Diaphragm and Master Cylinder Cover were replaced on the reservoir, I began pumping the Slave Cylinder in a little. AS I did this brake fluid was squirting out the top of the Master cylinder. Ummm this never happened before. I go inside and check the Pressure on the pedal….still nothing. Looser than it ever was? Did I mess my cap up or something? What I do wrong…this time? Here’s some photos form the crime scene.

Let me get this straight.. you pulled your clutch slave out of the tranny, left the cap on the reservoir on and then proceeded to pump the clutch pedal?

Who on earth told you to do this? What on earth gave you the idea that this may work? You just blew up your clutch slave cylinder. Go buy a new one.

The only proper way to bleed the clutch slave is by depressing the cylinder inwards and out (the cylinder that goes into the tranny to depress the clutch fork.

Dont know if you damaged anything or not but you are not suppose to depress the clutch petal with the slave cylinder out....the GM shop manual specifically warns against this.

Live and Learn I guess...who hasn't messed thier car up trying to install/learn something?

All the parts are in order it's just the Master Cylinder thats acting up. But the Diaphram and all are intact...Unless it's that little spout on the back of it. It's not holding pressure that's the problem. Does anyone know the part # for the Master cylinder? I'd check the junk yard but thier closed.

Don't forget the "it's never been raced or abused, I only drove it to church on Sunday, and the oil was always changed at 3000 miles" line.

, he just said what you had messed up. If your mad just because you broke something and have to fix it then my advise would be to take it to a shop next time, because they know what they are doing.

This won't help, you have to buy everything as a whole assy. I believe.. the over-the-counter cost is a shade over $200.

I'm not mad I broke it..it's not that hard to fix. Just need the right parts. I never take my car to the shop. I'm the only person that touches it. I've become very skeptical of strangers touching my ride and playing around under the hood. Because I swear every time I bring my car to the dealer or any place and they put it on the rack the first thing they say once they start lifiting it up and see what I've actually put on there is "Woa! You've put allot of money into this thing." Then...thats when they try to figure out a way to rip me off. Now I leave my hood closed and my mouth shut.
