can you still safely drive in the rain with that scoop thing as long as you avoid standing puddles and such?

is there anyway to avoid problems with rain and still have the positive effects of the upside-down air dam?

Light rain usually is not a problem.
I have driven in light to medium rain and it has been fine. I avoid standing water like the plague.
During the summer months I have this ghetto dryer duct ram air that I put on and it has not given me any problems with light rain, if it starts raining heavily and I have the misfortune to be out in it I just pull over somewhere and wait it out.

Which CAI did you buy?

Which CAI did you buy?

Do you have traction control? If so, does this affect fit?

Does your CAI fit perfectly w/o drilling/cutting?

I have '95 B4C package and looking to buy CAI.

I have a towel in my car that I jam in the scoop when it rains.

If water does get in through the filter do you guys really think there is enough suction to pull it up into the intake?

i have the slp cai. the installation was rough. my bolts that held the splash guard on were all rusted. also, i had a rough time getting both filters on because they are rubbing against each other when they are in place. i don't have traction control. my friend has scoops and when it rains it has enough suction to suck the rain up the intake when you floor it.

Cal, I appreciate the honest, unbiased reply.

So, I guess the SLP is NOT the best fitting CAI pkg for a '95 w/o traction control.

I imagine I find the same rusty bolts considering the age of the Camaro, although it ios exceptionally clean and dry under the hood!

Anyone else?

If you have ever had your car running with the intake elbow off then you know how much sucking it can do.

If you let the filter sit in standing water and rev it up it will suck it into the cylinders just like a straw.
I have a K&N FIPK and it fits great and has not given me any problems in the 4+ years it has been on the car.

Basically when I say that it was easy to install is because I did what the directions said backwards, I put the filters on first then put everything else on, this way u got the filters tightened down all the way and it still fit

Heat shield?

Does the K&N FIPK for a '95 come with a heat shield? If not, does a heat shield fit and does it cost extra?

It does not need a heat shield cause the tube extends down outside of the engine compartment and draws fresh air, not engine compartment hot air.

Does it sit as low as the SLP?

I don't plan to drive in the rain but just in case...

My fipk sits very low, the filter is about 1 inch above where the whole in the splash guard is....i put it together with the filter on first, and such it works so much better...
