Detailed OVC plug wire routing pics please

This is the third set of OVC wires on this car. The first were taylors about 3 years ago before I did my engine build up and the were fine. Now after the build I am on my second set of MSD's and they are arching everywhere and the car is almost undrivable becasue it shakes so bad when the converter locks up from missing.

The pictures I need to see are where the wires go underneath the alternator. I have them running under the alternator then through a little opening in the accessory bracket, then to the opti. Is this how they are supposed to be routed? As far as I can remember this is how my Taylors were done and I didnt have any problems.

I'm thinking about getting magnacore wires this time, becasue I think after 2 sets of junk MSD's that I am done with them. Also my coil archs from the plastic part to the metal mount. My msd coil did this and now a used stock replacement does it. Could this be from crappy wires?

Thanks in advance for any replies
Dan

Try Elite Spark Plugs. I got their wires and couldnt be happier. OTV wires, pre cut, nice boots, I got mine with the heat sheilding for an extra 10 or $15 and they are definatly worth the money ... Best set of wires Ive seen yet ... I got the 9MM ones. They aint cheap though, It cost me like 85$ I think ? Worth while though.

I don't have picture, but I'm sure someone will post up...Run the passenger side wires around the back of the alternator and then down the front of the motor behind the power steeing pulley and into the opti. I zip-tied mine together to keep them away from the belt and its very easy to do...

does the wires from elitespark that are precut, do they come all complete together? Or are they precut, and you still have to put the boots on your self?

I actually just did a write up on installing OVC wires for my technical writing class here at college. I did elitesparkplug wires, OVC design... complete with illustrations color illustrations and everything. It's not complete yet, assignment is due friday but I can email my rough draft if you want.

They are complete, and numbered.

I used the Taylor kit from Thunder Racing a year and a half ago and I've never had any problems with arcing. Routed them just like you described.

Check out the pics on my webpage. You actually need go OVER the alternaor not under it. The alternator gets hot enough to melt the outer silicone layer on the wires creating the same problems as if they were touching the headers.

When routing wires just remember 2 things. Keep them away from moving parts and keep them away from anything hot which includes the alternator and waterpump. I try not to let my wires lay on anything.. in fact the accessory bracket is the hottest metal part they touch which might explain why they havent ever given me any problems.

I'm not going to be doing it again for about a month, but you should post that report when you are done, I think that it would help a lot of people out.

From what I can tell, I ran mhy wires the same way the rest of you did, I just think the MSD's are junk I guess. Might as well try a new wire brand.

You sure the alternator will burn plug wires?

I'm not doubting you, but mine have been sitting right on it for quite some time without a problem.
