Desperately Need Suggestions! :(

I don't want it to be what I think it probably is...but we'll see. Here we go...

ok - car's been running A-1 - no problems at all. a stupid sensor here, that's really it. Started it up at college today - it didn't want to start, like my batt. was dead, lights dimmed, etc - white smoke out the exhaust. A LOT of it. Went out to smell - smells like nothing - no coolant, no water, nothing. It stopped putting out the smoke after a minute or so - I only had time to drive it and park it at the local gas station. Oil level's good, coolant level's good - no foamy oil, everything looks top notch - so that's good. I drive it home, carefully noting any signs of problems - good oil pressure; good temp; everything normal. Throttle response is perfect, no miss, nothing. How can I tell if I'm headed to MORE debt with a blown head gasket? I simply have to know what the hell else this could be. I started the car a few times since - no problems at all, started fine, ran fine, idled perfect. Wouldn't a blown head gasket affect the car's performance..?? I have no money at this time to fix whatever the hell it could be, and I'm pretty freaked/pissed....please, the sooner you can let me know..the better. Especially if there's anything else the dreaded white smoke could be.

I agree.....evene though you don't hvae money, get what little you have and have a professional check it out atleast. That's a tough one and definately not one you wanna guess on.
