dependability of STRANGE 12 bolt and mcleod clutch?

I have the opportunity to pick up a STRANGE 12-bolt, and a McLeod clutch off of a guy in my neighborhood for dirt cheap. My question is....... how safe is my assumption that these parts are "bulletproof?" I dont know how many miles are on either of them and their is no way of telling. (different owner had them installed). i drove the car today and there was no rear end noise, it seemed fine, and the clutch seemed to be pretty stout also. he's never ran slicks, but does have a 125 shot of nitrous on it.

- you guys think its a safe buy?

The Strange will be good if it's not making any noises. But do some burnouts to make sure the posi clutches aren't worn out.

oh yeah............ it has an auburn posi, c-clip eliminators, and 3.73 gears if that makes a difference.

i dont think i have another opportunity to do any burnouts........ i only drove it today as a test drive, becasue i was thinking about buying the whole car as well.

although i did break the tires loose quite a few times on the test drive, and as long as i was going straight, it kept going straight, so i assume the posi was working alright.

My friend Matt has had his strange 12 bolt for 2 weeks. It has gear whine, and he just broke two wheel studs. Strange had to pay for him to pull the axles and replace the studs. They're strong, but not bulletproof.

I know several guys including myself who have gernaded their Strange 12 bolt rears.. They are not bulletproof by any means, but are stronger than the stock 10 bolts.. The upgraded carier does seem to work beter, but once again, i know a couple guys who have gernaded them.. If you are getting a good deal then go for it
