Delteq long term; what will the cost of coil packs look like in several years?

The opti is not alone, coils and modules go bad too. How often can coils and modules be counted on to go bad? How much is an ignition module or coil for the Delteq? Also, these coilpacks aren't made anymore, so I just wonder what the price is going to look like 6 years from now. And depending on what the price does, I wonder if the Delteq is worth it.
I tried to get the MSD cap and rotor today but apparently MSD hasn't even shipped the product to anyone yet. My car is running poorly due to the opti, so now I'm thinking about the Delteq; even though I would be spending $550 on it. OPTI

Coils aren't made any more? They are like on 90% of GM cars and have been for years and years.

On the Delteq site http://www.delteq.com/opti_bb.htm they explain what the "barebones" option of their kit is, and they list these parts as what you will need to buy on your own to make it complete.

1 D1980A Ignition Module, used on 1993-1999 Cadillac Northstar engines and 1995-1999 Olds Aurora
4 D555 2-tower Ignition Coil
8 --- Ignition wires using standard GM terminals, not the special LT1 terminals

I assumed that only coils and modules from these specific years and vehicles would work.

I was referring to your statement about the coil packs. The D555 coils go as far back as 1986 and through 2005 models. The ignition module comes from the models they listed.

My mistake. Apparently I didn't read it carefully, I was thinking the coils also had to come from those years Northstar engine. It's good news that they don't. D555, alright.

A coil pack is just a coil with two terminals on it, so it feeds 2 cylinders only, instead of 8 like on the LT1. Coil packs use the waste spark method, which means the coil fires 2 cylinders at the same time, one on the compression stroke, one exhaust. Coil packs from basically any GM vehicle would probably be acceptable, as long as you can make them fit.

Individual coils are $30-$35. You can get 4 coils + module off eBay for $110-$120.
