Delteq intall time
Re: Delteq intall time
Well i one problem i ran into is that the plate they sent me the for the Valve mount, the center hole for the valve cover bolt holes was about 1/8" off. I had to re-drill it out and grind it down so the bolt would sit flush and not stick above the plate. I hear that if you get this plate you can call them and they will send you a new plate.......I did not want to wait
I will eventually call them and get a new one.
Basiacally you just have to think it through and plug everything in the right hole, which isn't to hard if you look at the diagrams. Then it's just a plug wire install. My biggest problem of the whole install was getting the plug wire off the #5 cyclinder--i swear it was glued on there.....plus you can't get a good pull because of my SLP 1 3/4" headers. took me 45 minutes to get it off. Other than that it is a peice of cake. I decided to run my wires up over the intake, and then down to each of the even cylinders on the other side because it made the wires be farther from the headers and less likely to burn one. Of course i have no idea on other type of headers. That's just what i did, plus i figured those wires will be off a lot.
Just go slow don't get frustrated with the plug wires and read the instructions. 2 hours is my guess. I took longer to make the wires look very neat and clean.....I had no rush so I probably took 4 hours over 2 days. I was removing other things also though. Like the Air pump, AC, etc.

It made my car sound different, up top. Kiss the High Misses goodbye
First start though it takes a little crank. Once it's warm it starts faster. Not as fast starting as the opti, but who cares how fast it starts as long as you can run her to 6500 without a miss
You'll enjoy it.

HOLY ****!!!!!!!!!!!!! This really sux!! The drivers side was a breeze, only took like 10 min. The pass side i've been trying to do for about and hour-hour and a half and getting nowhere. They want me to run it in stock location b/c i still have stock manifolds but there is about a 4mm gap on the 2nd retaining push-in and the alternator bracket that i have to pull a 7mm wire out of and put in an 8mm. Since you two have aftermarket headers, you didn't have to f w/this did you....If so, how the hell did you do it??!!!!!!

Re: Delteq intall time
Im running the radiator shroud mount delteq unit with Jet-Hot LT's. Man that install was a breeze for the most part. I only ran into 2 probs.
1. Routing wires..... I had problems removing my old wires, because I couldnt get to zipties that were keeping a couple of the wires tucked back. Once I got that out of the way, it was just the same ole LT1 drama with plug access. I finally just got under the car, and installed almost all of the wires from underneath the car for the passanger side. That was much easier. Oh well live and learn.
2. Removing the coil and ICM. One of the bolts wouldnt budge. So I was working with that bastard for a while, because I didnt want to break the bolt off, or strip anything.
Other then that, it was a piece of cake. The instructions are great, and install is pretty easy, especially if your used to do plugs and wires on these cars.
I love the unit, and recommend it to all my LT1 comrads.

Re: Delteq intall time
Dude you dont have to run it, in those looms. As long as you have a route for the wires that will keep them from touching the headers, then your ok. Did you go with the valve cover mount?

Re: Delteq intall time
Some one mentioned that this system is "slow to start." How so? I am looking into this setup to replace the 113k mile opti in the 94 camaro Lt1 i have and this seems like the best option. What do you guys think?

It took me 20 minutes to mount and wire my Delteq, adn about 2 hours to install the plug wires. I used the stock plugwire routing and ran them under the headers. No problems so far.
Re: Delteq intall time
Slow starting? I don't think so...watch, make your own opinion I guess
