Delteq ignition setup, Round 2.....PICS !

Well,

I finally got the DELTEQ setup wired completely. The wiring job coming off the DIS coils looks as good as any factory OEM process. It took forever to cut length, solder, heat-shrink and loom the setup to look factory, but I am more than pleased with the final results! I also made a custom black powdercoat aluminum plate to mount the MSD DIS 4 and both MSD tach inter-rupters. Alot of thought went into this setup to make it look as if everything is a factory location. I even went to the trouble of looming the DIS 4 wiring down front fender. You can actually stand over the drivers side fender and make all the adjustment to the top of the MSD DIS 4 box

Here's some pics:

Re: Delteq ignition setup, Round 2.....PICS !

I purchased the DELTEQ setup from DELTEQ (full kit less the wires and heat shield). Wires are ELITE custom length 9MM, red, heat shield. The kit consist of the complete DELTEQ plus Delteq billet opti cover ( I had it polished and then chromed ) Delteq custom billet plate to hold the coils ( I had it polished and then chromed ). You will have to modify the COIL plate to move it down the valve cover face so the coil inter-rupts don't force the top of the DIS coils to touch at the back of the cowl (pretty easy if you have acces to a drill press for the plate). Purchased the MSD DIS 4 (ignition box), (4) MSD DIS 2 coils, (4) MSD Coil inter-rupts, (2) MSD tach inter-face modules and various miscellaneous little parts. The car idles as smooth as glass. The wire kit I have is specific in length for the FLP longtube headers. I'm also using the Made 4 U billet chrome holders for the wires to stay along the heads. Anymore questions please ask.

Mike

Typically ignition systems don't add RWHP. Usually if you gain HP from an ignition system there was something else that was wrong and you probably fixed it while changing out ignition component. JMO. I mostly did this setup so my ignition would be bulletproof for a LT1, plus there are some other features that are nice.

yes I have one more question Do you Live In Las Vegas hahaha!

Where did you get the made for you billet chrome holder I am not going to run headers I will use the stock manifolds?

and as far as misc little parts would those be shrink tube and connectors or is there something that I would need specifically?

I also heard that you can buy coil packs from ebay what do you think about this idea and if it is a good idea what do I look for (search for) on ebay?

Re: Delteq ignition setup, Round 2.....PICS !

Ha, ha, Vegas ( I would like to live there....) The Made 4 U holders are actually aluminum and I had them polished then chromed (I purchased them from Thunder racing I think ??) Misc stuff is mostly what you were thinking (loom, black wire ties, heat shrink, solder, connectors and black elec. tape) I did purchase some of the DEUTSCH connectors from MSD (at summit) and the MSD pro-crimp tool for this style of connector. I used the items to piece together an OEM style weather pack connector, so I could release the system easily for servicing. The weather pack (deutsch) and MSD pro crimps were on the expensive side, but I know I will use them again I think the coil packs on E-bay are a decent deal, but you will pay almost the same money for used/new GM coil packs as what the RED MSD coil pack will cost from summit. So, I decided for $45 a coil pack to buy the MSD's brand new. Plus I like the red theme

Very cool, nice job dude.

I'm doing the same setup with my Delteq shortly; but my coils are mounted ontop of the intake instead of the VC.

Looks clean. I'm getting ready to start fabbing up my mounts on the valvecovers for my LTCC. Should look pretty trick when I get done.
